I went in summer and while it was still beauitful and full of walkers I think it might have even more atmosphere in winter seeing at it really is a winter holiday resort. I would love to see this place covered in snow.

Contrarian viewpoint

Although I agree that Zermatt (or, more accurately, the surrounding landscape) is worth visiting, next time I go I’ll save money by booking lodging down the hill in Tasch or one of the other towns along the road. It’s an easy matter to take the morning train up to Zermatt and day trip on the trails, and that way you can avoid the crowds and high prices in Zermatt itself.

A review of this place: Zermatt isch cool

As tourist you shouldn’t miss Zermatt and the Matterhorn honestly. If you know the chocolate Toblerone so you now the matterhorn and i can tell you in real it is 1000 times nicer!
